The River Falls Economic Development Corporation recently accepted a donation of $55,000 from River Falls Municipal Utilities in support of the St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center (SCVBIC).

“We are thrilled to accept this contribution toward the construction of our new facility, which will support entrepreneurs and small businesses for many years to come,” said SCVBIC director, Danielle Campeau.

The SCVBIC is a new, multi-use facility for entrepreneurs and small businesses seeking assistance to grow and expand. It is located in the new Sterling Ponds Corporate Park, 1091 Sutherland Ave. in River Falls.

As a silver sponsor, River Falls Municipal Utilities will have naming rights for the Center’s light industrial space and be recognized on the donor wall.

“We are pleased to support the Business Innovation Center,” said Kevin Westhuis, director, River Falls Municipal Utilities. “Investing in this facility, its people and activities will drive development in our community while it celebrates our entrepreneurial spirit.”

The facility is managed and staff by UW-River Falls’ Center for Innovation and Business Development, which Campeau directs. The university’s Small Business Development Center is also housed in the facility.

Innovation Center goals include:

· Supporting and growing the entrepreneurial culture in the region;

· Connecting university and college resources to the regional business community;

· Strengthening the existing business support system by connecting them to one another; and

· Improving the survivability rate of new businesses.
