St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center Receives $50K from WESTconsin Credit Union

WESTERN WI – Representatives of the St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center recently met with WESTconsin Credit Union staff to accept a $50,000 donation from the credit union. The contribution takes place across a five-year schedule, and provides naming rights to the WESTconsin Credit Union Reception Area. This is the Center’s first official sponsorship. Main project partners include the City of River Falls, River Falls Economic Development Corporation, University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and Chippewa Valley Technical College.

Dave Maves, Chairperson of WESTconsin’s Board of Directors, commented, “As a Board, we had unanimous support of this project due to the regional impact it will have on the communities and members we serve.”


“We appreciate your foresight and interest in this capital process,” Scot Simpson, City Administrator, stated. “You were a catalyst for the effort and now you are the first to secure a commitment.”


With $3,953,550 in construction costs, the Center’s building and taking form. It is located on 3.7 acres in Sterling Ponds Corporate Park. Services will include business development, coaching and mentoring, financial advisory, market development assistance, as well as convenient access to partner resources.


WESTconsin Credit Union has been serving members since 1939, and membership is open to anyone who lives or works in the Wisconsin counties of Barron, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, Rusk, St. Croix, Sawyer, Taylor, Trempealeau, and Washburn, or the Minnesota counties of Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Goodhue, Isanti, Ramsey, Wabasha, and Washington, with a $5 minimum deposit in a Membership Savings Account. Credit unions are financial institutions owned by their accountholders, and member funds are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to at least $250,000.
